Music Monday: Jason Mraz - I Won't Give Up

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space

To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn

Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily

I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
Still looking up.

I won't give up on us (no I'm not giving up)

God knows I'm tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We've got a lot to learn (we're alive, we are loved)
God knows we're worth it (and we're worth it)

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

We all go through things. Stuff happens. It makes us question who we are and what we want to be. Who we really are is the person who makes it out of those doubts. The person who is left standing and if we let doubts and fears end us then we end up being a shell of who we are really meant to be.
I am lucky enough to know I am exactly where I want to be. I'm not saying my life is perfect. I tolerate my job but I don't love it. I wish I had a better schedule and could see my wife more. I wish it was easier to quit eating bad food and lose the weight that I allowed myself to gain.

The key is to see the sunlight at the other end. I'm helping my wife achieve her dream at university and someday I'll get to see her change the world. It makes me so proud to see her going for it. I see the hardships and frustrations she has but she keeps pushing for it. Soon she'll be half way there.

There is sunlight at the end if you keep yourself focused and fight through the dirty stuff. I am just happy I am alive. I have a wife I love. I have a job. I have a roof over my head. There is a lot of things I need to fix in myself to make things better but I aim to do it with a smile on my face.

If you let all the small things weigh you down it'll eventually hold you down and things will fall apart. I wish everyone could be happy with what they have. If it makes you truly miserable then change it. Life is too short to live with the status quo if it makes you unhappy.

If it makes you happy then don't give up. Fight to fix what is wrong and try to enjoy the good things while you can.
