CW Upfront Presentation

The CW had the final Upfront Presentation of the week and there schedule is as follows:

No real surprises on The CW.  The Vampire Diaries is hit or miss for me and if I decide to watch the remainder of season two then I'll have a busy Thursday because I'll be giving Secret Circle a try. I'm not sure about The Ringer or Hart of Dixie. I'll try Hart of Dixie because I like the actors involved but can't really see myself having any interest in The Ringer but that can always change. If I try them it'll be during mid-season when I know how the ratings for the show are doing. 


I'll keep watching Gossip Girl but leaning towards quitting 90210 because it's really not that good of a show overall but there are a few characters I like in the show. I'm also glad One Tree Hill announced a final 13 episodes and hope they can bring back Lucas and Peyton for at least a few episodes.

I am surprised CBS chose to move Rules of Engagement to Saturdays. It'll be the only channel with scripted original shows on Saturday nights and seems like they are wasting the show. I thought at least one of the CSI shows would be cancelled but all three made it through with the original CSI moved to Wednesdays.

Two of my current favorite sitcoms, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother return and if I get the chance to watch Mike and Molly over the summer and like it I'll add that next year. I'll also watch Survivor and Amazing Race because I'm a sucker for both shows.

The only new shows that interests me is Person of Interest but mostly because Michael Emerson is in it and he was amazing as Ben on Lost and Two Broke Girls because it looks like it'll be a funny show I would enjoy.

Tuesday Top Ten: TV Wives

This week I'll be counting my favorite TV wives. Since I am lucky enough to have such a wonderful wife who I love deeply I thought I'd count down great TV wives.

10. Jessica Simpson from Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica

I know it's a reality show but she was just so funny on this show that I have to think it was really scripted. At least I hope so.

9. Clair Olivia Hanks-Huxtable from The Cosby Show

8.  Carla from Scrubs

Sitcom wives usually get the short end of the stick. Sadly they are mostly just there to look pretty and once in awhile put their husband in his place. But these two ladies were always able to be more than the regular sitcom wife. 

7. Kirsten Cohen from The OC

I'm gonna pretend season two and three of The OC never happened when it concerns Sandy and Kirsten because the writers did a horrible job with them. They had such a wonderful relationship in season one and four and that is how I will remember it. 

6. Pam from The Office

 One of the major reasons I like The Office is because of the relationship between Pam and Jim. They let the relationship grow from friends to husband and wife. Sure the story hasn't been as good since they got together but I can accept that because they are a great couple.

5. Lily from How I Met Your Mother

The way Lily support Marshall is why she makes the list but she is hilarious on her own as well. Her and Marshall have such a nice balance to their relationship which is refreshing for a TV show.  

4. Marge Simpson from The Simpsons 

Anyone who can stay with Homer for 22 years has to crack the top five. 

3. Emma from Corner Gas

Emma was both funny and scary. She was able to put everyone else in their place and even through you always wondered what she saw in Oscar you could always tell she loved him. 

2. Tami from Friday Night Lights

The show showed how hard it would be to be a football coach's wife in Texas. I loved this show because the people and relationships were so realistic. They had their arguments but always made up and supported each other.

1. Haley from One Tree Hill

On a show where relationships changed all the time it was nice to have one relationship that lasted the entire show. You don't see many TV shows that can have a couple last eight seasons and people want them to stay together. Even when viewership dropped in season two when they had their troubles, the love of the couple by the crazy fans made it obvious the writers would not mess with the couple again outside of regular marital conflicts. 

ABC Upfront Presentation

I'm disappointed with the new shows on the networks this year. There are shows that I will try but nothing that I'm really excited about. I have nothing to really say about any of the new shows on ABC. The only show I will watch on the network is Grey's Anatomy and that show is so hit or miss that I could go ages without watching the show and feel like the exact same thing is still going on. I may try some of the new shows later if they start looking like good shows but based on what I've read of the new shows properly not.

For the returning shows the only shows I'll stick with is Fringe, American Idol, and Family Guy. Fringe is currently my favorite running TV show and I just hope that if the ratings don't keep up they just announce it as the last season and give the writers a fair chance to end it well. Family Guy is hit or miss lately but it's still one of the funniest shows on TV.  I love Bones but it's really a DVD show for me since I watch the show when Nessa gets it. American Idol has also been hit or miss the last two seasons with no real contestants I've liked but the show did introduce me to some great artists like Kris Allen. David Cook, Carrie Underwood, and Kelly Clarkson so I'll continue to give it a chance.

For the new shows I'll give Terra Nova a try in the fall. I'll DVR it it but won't commit to watching it until I see the initial ratings. I still don't trust Fox and won't get stuck liking a show that is doomed. I'll do the same in the fall with The Finder and Alcatraz. Both knows look interesting and I think I'll like both but again not until the I know if the show is successful or not. I'll also watch X Factor because I'm a sucker for singing shows and I know it'll succeed.

What I'm really excited for is the reboot of The Flintstones but gotta wait until 2013 for that one.
 
Not a lot on Fox that interests me but it is what it is.

Music Monday: Joshua Radin - Brand New Day

It's a brand new day
The sun is shining
It's a brand new day
For the first time in such a long long time
I know, I'll be ok

I love this song because it's so inspirational. No matter what goes wrong the song gives me hope that everything will be ok. No matter what it's a brand new day. 

There's no reason that I need to be cheered. Overall my life is good. I have a wife I love and three pets I love even when they annoy me. I'm not starving and I have clothes on my back. Can't really complain about anything. Sure things could always be better but I'm happy. 

It's just good to know that when I am having a bad day or when I'm just sick of the rain I have a song I can turn on that reminds me that I have no real reason to feel down.

The biggest surprise was that Wonder Women wasn't picked up. They gave so much attention to the pilot and the announcement of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Women. They also had a big reveal of the costume. The fact that it wasn't picked up makes me wonder what went wrong with the pilot. It also makes me want to watch the pilot to see how bad it must have been.

There's not a lot on the schedule that really interests me. I am happy Chuck gets 13 episodes to end the series properly. I also would like to give Parenthood a try but I have two seasons to watch first so I may not have the chance to watch it yet. It really depends on the other channels and how my TV schedule looks for next fall. I'll watch The Office mostly out of habit and because sometimes they do have some good moments.

The one new show that interests me is Grimm. I've been a fan of The Grimm Brothers stories since I was a kid. With Smallville not on any longer this show can fill that fantasy void in the schedule. I hope that the show gets good ratings and lasts. The other show that interests me is the Playboy Club. The concept of the show is interesting but I can see it failing to find a good audience. I also think The Firm will fail to find a strong audience. Grimm could be saved by airing on Fridays. 

For the Mid Season shows the only one that interests me is Awake. I think it could be what Inception wasn't. It also stars Jason Isaacs who is awesome as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. The rest of the new shows may interest me later but I'll leave them as shows I'll download later.
